The Town of Caledon is dedicated to addressing climate change and protecting the environment in our community. 

Climate Emergency

On January 28, 2020 Caledon Council declared a climate emergency, recognizing the need to address climate change urgently. The Town has updated its Community Climate Change Action Plan that contains strategies that will significantly contribute to the Town's ability to cope with and address climate change.

Green incentives

The Town's green incentives help developers create more sustainable projects with grants and discounts, including:

Saving Energy at Home

The Home Energy Retrofit Program was created to help homeowners in Caledon, Mississauga and Brampton to conserve energy, lower annual energy expenses and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Learn more.

Air Quality Monitoring

The Town of Caledon and the Province of Ontario are working together to conduct air quality monitoring in Caledon Village and Bolton to better understand traffic-related emissions. Click here to learn more.

Community Textile and Electronics Collection Drive

Location: Caledon East Community Complex (6215 Old Church Road, Caledon East)

 

Behind on your spring cleaning? No problem! This Circular Economy Month, the Town of Caledon has teamed up with Partners in Project Green to collect your unwanted clothing, textiles, and electronic waste. Drop off your items at the Caledon East Community Complex and be part of the circular economy!

Date: October 19, 2024

Time: 10 am - 2 pm

Location: Humber River Centre (28 Ann St, Bolton)

 

Looking to turn trash into treasure? Reimagine your waste as worth and support the circular economy by joining the Town of Caledon and ecoCaledon at our repair café. Bring your old items such as bikes, electronics, sports equipment and kitchenware and repair them yourself or under the guidance of volunteers to make them good as new! 

Community Cleanup

Location: R.J.A. Potts Memorial Park (125 Pembrook Street, Bolton)

Sustainable Neighbourhood Action Plan (SNAP)

If you live in the West Bolton area, you can reduce your utility bills while supporting sustainability. Learn more about the Sustainable Neighbourhood Action Plan.

Funding for Local Projects

If you're a local not-for-profit or volunteer group, public school, or Indigenous community you can apply to the Climate Action Fund to support environmental initiatives that address climate change in Caledon. 

Corporate Initiatives

The Town is dedicated to reducing the impact of its own operations through the Council-approved Corporate Greenhouse Gas Reduction Framework, which has a target to reduce emissions from the Town's operations by 24% below 2017 levels by 2024.
