Caledon vies for $10 million to connect Caledon through Smart Spaces

The Town of Caledon has applied to the federal Smart Cities Challenge to connect Caledon residents to digital technology, each other and the world through “Smart Spaces.”

The Challenge encourages communities to imagine how they might improve the lives of residents through innovation, data and connected technology.  Winning communities will receive up to $10 million in funding to implement their plans.

The Local Planning Appeal Board (LPAT) has approved the Town of Caledon’s Zoning By-Law (No. 2016-100), to bring industrial-commercial zoning into alignment with the Town’s Official Plan, making it easier for businesses to establish and grow in Caledon.

Caledon lowers flags in response to Toronto tragedy

In response to the horrific tragedy in Toronto yesterday in which 10 people were killed and several more injured when a van careened onto a sidewalk on Yonge Street, the Town of Caledon is lowering flags at Town Hall and other Town facilities starting Wednesday, April 25.

Caledon named one of the world’s top honeymoon destinations

Travel site Expedia.ca has named Caledon as one of its “Top Honeymoon Destinations in the World.”  Caledon, the article says, “is one of those perfect hidden gems, with a ton of bed and breakfasts, farmers markets, cycling trails, and cideries.”

“It’s not hard to fall in love with Caledon,” said Mayor Allan Thompson. “There are so many beautiful locations in Caledon, it’s the perfect backdrop to celebrate love!”

Canadian Tire Corporation’s (CTC) new Distribution Centre (DC) in Caledon Ontario opened in July 2017.
