Town Receives Funding from Provincial Climate Change Grant

The Town of Caledon is one of 14 municipalities in Ontario that was successful in receiving Provincial Funding from the Ontario Carbon Market. The Town received $166,084 which will be used for boiler and building control upgrades at the Caledon Centre for Recreation and Wellness (CCRW) which will lower greenhouse gas emissions.

Emergency Preparedness Week (May 6 – 12, 2018) is a Canada-wide initiative to increase awareness of individual and family preparedness. Caledon Fire & Emergency Services encourage residents to be prepared to cope on their own for at least the first 72 hours of an emergency while rescue workers help those in urgent need and attend to the cause of the emergency.

Caledon Council’s charity golf tournament helps local families in need

The lion’s share of proceeds from Caledon Council’s annual charitable golf tournament will this year go towards the renovation of a heritage property for use as supportive housing by local families with adult children who have intellectual or development disabilities.

The Town Achieves Bike Friendly Community Status

Town of Caledon was awarded a bronze level designation, as a Bicycle Friendly Community (BFC) by Share the Road Cycling Coalition (STRCC) at the 10th Annual Ontario Bike Summit Awards on April 17, 2018. Caledon joins Brampton and Mississauga as a BFC, making Peel Region the second region in Ontario to have all of its local municipalities become BFC certified. This also brings the number of BFCs in Ontario to 42 (three Gold, eight Silver and 31 Bronze, representing 70% of Ontario’s population).

Caledon vies for $10 million to connect Caledon through Smart Spaces

The Town of Caledon has applied to the federal Smart Cities Challenge to connect Caledon residents to digital technology, each other and the world through “Smart Spaces.”

The Challenge encourages communities to imagine how they might improve the lives of residents through innovation, data and connected technology.  Winning communities will receive up to $10 million in funding to implement their plans.
