Caledon Fire and Emergency Services welcomes 21 new volunteer firefighters
CALEDON, ON (July 29, 2024) – On Friday, July 26, a graduation ceremony was held at the Albion Bolton Community Centre where 21 volunteer firefighters joined the Town of Caledon’s Fire and Emergency Services department.
“I am pleased to welcome 21 new volunteer firefighters to our Fire and Emergency Services team,” said Mayor Annette Groves. “I know that all Caledon residents are grateful for their dedication to serving our community and keeping us safe.”
All recruits completed 393 hours of intensive coursework, covering essential certifications including NFPA 1072 Hazmat Awareness, NFPA 1072 Hazmat Operations, NFPA 1001 FF I, and NFPA 1001 FF II.
"It was an honour to celebrate the graduation of our new volunteer firefighter recruits," said Fire Chief Dave Pelayo. "These dedicated individuals have completed rigorous training and demonstrated exceptional courage and commitment. Their addition to our team enhances our ability to protect and serve Caledon residents. We are proud of their achievements and look forward to seeing their positive impact as they join the ranks of our brave firefighters.”
As Caledon continues to grow, the need for skilled emergency responders is crucial. The newly graduated recruits have been assigned to crews at Caledon's fire stations and will begin their vital work immediately, enhancing Caledon’s safety and readiness.
