The Age-Friendly Caledon Action Plan outlines Housing priorities to support the advancement of policies and programs that expedite a full range of affordable housing options suitable to the needs of Older Adults across Caledon. Key deliverables of the AFC Action Plan outline promoting and building awareness of existing programs and resources available to Older Caledon residents (1.5 & 1.6).

This page is dedicated to the various informational, financial and local resources and housing options available to residents over the age of 55 in Caledon. 

55+ Housing Support and Resources

There are many resources available when planning to remain in your home (ageing-in-place) or making the decision to move. To help make your next step(s) a little easier, whatever it is, here are some helpful resources to get you started.

55+ Housing Options in Caledon

To encourage aging in place, there are various housing options available for older adult residents in Caledon and throughout Peel Region. Check out the Region of Peel's housing options for more information.

Affordable Housing - Peel Living / Region of Peel 65+ Housing

To live in these buildings, at least one resident must be 65 years of age or older.

  • Jane Place - located in Bolton at 60 Jane St. 
  • Maple Grove Apartments - located in Caledon Village at 1640 Maple Grove Rd. This is a two-story apartment building with 28 units. 
  • Mayfield Senior Apartments - located in Caledon at 12600 Kennedy Rd. There are one and two-bedroom units available. 
  • Pinnacle View Apartments - located in Alton at 9 McClellan Rd. This is a two-story building with 29 units.
  • Riverview Terrace - located in Bolton at 121 Glasgow Rd. This is a six-story apartment building with one and two-bedroom suites. 
  • Stationview Place - located in Bolton at 25 Stationview Pl. This is a two-story building with one and two-bedroom units available.
  • Walkers Road Seniors Apartments - located in Caledon East at 20 Walker Rd. E. This is a two-story apartment building with one and two-bedroom units available.

Retirement Residences

Retirement Residences/Homes provide rental accommodation with care and services for older adults who can live independently with minimal to moderate support and are able to fund the lifestyle on their own. You can choose your retirement home and wait lists depend on the individual home. There is flexibility to choose your type of suite, the services you need and the activities you want to participate in.

Please contact the Retirement Residence directly for more information. The following homes are located close to or in the Caledon community and is not a comprehensive list. 
Long-Term Care Homes

Long-term care homes (such as homes for the aged and nursing homes) are designed for people who require the availability of 24-hour nursing care and supervision, sometimes within a secure setting. They receive government funding, with residents paying a co-payment for accommodations. There is likely to be a waiting list and you may not get your first choice of facility. Residents are required to apply through Ontario Health atHome for an eligibility assessment.

  • King Street Nursing Home - located in Bolton at 49 Sterne St. This is an independently owned and operated facility. Residents receive full care from full-time staff.
  • Vera Davis Centre - located in Bolton at 80 Allan Dr. This is a Region of Peel Long Term Care Home that offers single or shared rooms and provides 24-hour care with on-site medical support.
Alternative Living Options (Affordable, Co-Housing, HomeSharing, Added Units)
  • Abbeyfield House - located in Caledon East at 22 Walkers Rd. Is a friendly, affordable shared living option for independent older adults. Residents have private suites and share communal spaces with others in the house. Monthly rates include delicious meals and 24-hour onsite emergency assistance is provided. This is a great way to create a social ageing experience.
  • Garden suites - temporary units that are located on private property which can be rented. This also includes basement or secondary suites. 
  • Golden Girls Home, by Golden Girls (and Guys) Canada- a HomeShare program where mature adults share a single housing unit.
