Palgrave United Church recipient for 2024 Caledon Council Community Golf Tournament

August 13, 2024 (CALEDON, ON) – The annual Caledon Council Community Golf Tournament (CCCGT) is once again proving to be a pivotal event in supporting local non-profit organizations. This year, Mayor Annette Groves expressed her heartfelt gratitude to all sponsors and participants for their support. "We thank the sponsors and donors for their contributions that significantly bolster our community," said Mayor Annette Groves. "We are thrilled that this year’s primary beneficiary is the Palgrave United Church, a longstanding pillar in Caledon."

As Chair of the CCCGT Committee, Ward 2 Councillor Dave Sheen highlighted the impact of the funds raised. "This funding will support the Palgrave United Community Kitchen, a vital community hub offering essential programs and services to Caledon residents," said Sheen. "We encourage continued donations to achieve our ambitious goals."

The funds will be allocated to renovating the Palgrave United Community Kitchen (PUCK), aiming to double its capacity for hosting events, community dinners and wellness workshops. Since 2009, PUCK has been instrumental in providing thousands of meals and remains dedicated to fostering a sustainable local food system.

CCCGT Committee Vice-Chair and Regional Councillor Mario Russo emphasized the importance of community involvement. "The community kitchen has achieved remarkable feats over the years, and this funding will propel its growth," Russo stated. "We invite everyone to participate and support this noble cause."

“PUCK is thrilled to continue to offer health and wellness programs, as well as community cooking and culinary entrepreneur space. This financial support will double our available space – while adding a heat pump (air conditioning), upgrading insulation and retrofitting all lighting with LED fixtures – moving us towards our net zero carbon goal! The community kitchen will be able to continue cooking and providing a community hub that supports aging in place. Thank you,” said Barb Imrie, PUCK Coordinator.
