Business Opening: Floradale Dental Centre

Floradale Dental Centre recently opened in downtown Bolton. We asked owner Carlena Thurton to tell us about her business.

Tell us about your business.

At Floradale Dental Centre we offer a full suite of dental services such as: dental cleaning, partial and complete denture, restorative filling, crown and bridge, as well as root canal treatment.

To encourage people to try our services, for the month of December, we are offering free bleaching kits. Call to set up an appointment.

Why did you decide to open your business in Bolton?

I have decided to open my business in Bolton because I really like this beautiful community and find the people to be warm and welcoming. 

Tell us about you, why did you get into this type of business?

I came to Canada as an international student and studied to be a dental assistant. I have a passion for the dental business.  

I always wanted to do something that would help people in my community.

After 23 years of experience, I decided to start my own business. I opened my first location in Mississauga in 2017 and now have opened my second location here in Bolton.

How has the COVID-19 pandemic affected your business?

The COVID-19 pandemic affected my business in many ways. There are so many challenges and expenses. The safety of our patients and staff are so important, we have very strict protocols and of course have all the require PPE, but it adds a lot of expense and business has decreased a lot.

My Bolton location is a new business, so I have invested a lot and don’t have a roster of patients yet.

What is the best business advice you have ever received?

The best business advice that I ever received is to keep the faith.
