Town of Caledon prepares for service disruptions to Canada Post mail

CALEDON, ON (November 14, 2024) – The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) has issued a labour strike notice and will be in a legal position to strike as early as Friday, November 15, 2024. If CUPW initiates rotating strike activity, postal service disruptions may occur and result in mail taking longer to reach its destination.

Caledon residents who use the postal system are advised to consider in-person or online alternatives during a strike where possible. For information on the Town’s ongoing programs and services, please visit caledon.ca

Parks and Recreation

Property Taxes
Each year, residents receive an interim and final bill for property taxes, with the amount and due date of installment payments. Property tax installments are due the first Thursday of March, May, July and September.

Currently, the next interim property tax bill is scheduled to be mailed out in February 2025. For more information and to stay updated on any potential impacts during the Canada Post strike, visit caledon.ca/taxes.

Business, Construction, Planning and Development Services
For details on building permits, business licences, development applications and other related services, visit caledon.ca. Engineering, construction and development application notices will continue to be posted on caledon.ca/notices, as well as in the local newspaper. Property specific building letters and notices will be mailed out through Purolator as needed.

Municipal Law Enforcement
All property owners must make sure their properties comply with Town by-laws and ensure all buildings, structures and yards are kept clear, tidy and free of any garbage or waste. For enforcement-related inquiries or to contact Municipal Law Enforcement, visit caledon.ca/reportaproblem.

Municipal Law Enforcement will continue to enforce by-laws in-person and issue letters to property owners through Purolator as needed.

Provincial Offences
To determine the status of a requested trial date for a Provincial Offence (excluding appeals), please visit ontario.ca/ticketsandfines. Pay a fine online at paytickets.ca or in-person at any Provincial Offences Office in Ontario.

Trials can be requested online at caledon.ca/poa or by signing option three on the back of a ticket and delivering it to one of the Provincial Offences Offices listed below.

Parking tickets can also be paid online through the Town of Caledon Parking Ticket Payment Portal.
