Caledon announces new Commissioner of Planning & Development and Chief Planner

February 22, 2024 (Caledon, ON) - The Town of Caledon proudly announces the appointment of Mr. Eric Lucic, MCIP, RPP, as the new Commissioner of Planning & Development/Chief Planner. With a track record of excellence and innovation, Mr. Lucic brings a wealth of experience and expertise to lead Caledon into a thriving and sustainable future.

Hailing most recently from the Halifax Regional Municipality, where he held the position of Director of Community Planning, Planning & Development, Mr. Lucic spearheaded numerous transformative projects in one of Canada's most rapidly evolving regions. His tenure in Halifax saw him at the helm of groundbreaking development and redevelopment initiatives, showcasing his adeptness in navigating complex planning landscapes.

Prior to his tenure in Halifax, Mr. Lucic gained considerable experience in various capacities within the City of Brampton and the City of Mississauga over the past two decades.

Mr. Lucic not only brings extensive experience to the commissioner and chief planner roles, he also has impressive academic and industry credentials, including a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Masters in Spatial Analysis. A Registered Professional Planner and a distinguished member of several professional planning institutes, including the Canadian Institute of Planners, the Atlantic Planning Institute, and the Licensed Professional Planners of Nova Scotia, Mr. Lucic brings a comprehensive skill set and a professional expertise to the Town.

In his role as Commissioner of Planning & Development/Chief Planner, Mr. Lucic will oversee the Planning, Building and Economic Development/Business Attraction and Investment portfolios.

Mr. Lucic will begin his new role with the Town of Caledon on Monday, April 1, 2024.
