Caledon Council Golf Tournament Helps Fund Supportive Housing Project

The Caledon Council Community Golf Tournament (CCCGT) is pleased to announce that Raising the Roof, the primary recipient of its funding for 2018, will receive $64,002 towards the renovation of a heritage home for use as supportive housing for adults living with intellectual or developmental disabilities.

The property being renovated is located at 1 Cedar Mains Drive in Caledon. A heritage property near Highway 50 and Old Church Road, the building is known locally as “the Church House.”

Once renovated, the property – located on Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) lands – will be turned over to Caledon Housing Initiative (CHI), a local parent organization that helps support families and their family members with intellectual or developmental disabilities.

At a ceremony prior to its Council meeting yesterday, Mayor Allan Thompson, Caledon Council members and representatives of Raising the Roof, CHI and TRCA participated in a cheque presentation at Caledon Town Hall.

Background

This past September, TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley played host to the 15th annual CCCGT. With the support of volunteers, sponsors and the business community, another successful event was held.

The CCCGT event raises tens of thousands of dollars a year for local projects that aid the community. Over its history, the event has raised over one million dollars in contributions which in turn has funded dozens of community and not-for-profit groups.

Raising the Roof was selected as the 2018 primary recipient. The 2018 secondary grant application window, and the 2019 primary grant application window are both open until January 31, 2019.
