Caledon names 2024 Senior of the Year at Council
CALEDON, ON (June 26, 2024) – On Tuesday, June 25, Mayor and Council named Joe Tersigni Caledon’s 2024 Senior of the Year, highlighting the invaluable contributions of seniors to our community.
The Senior of the Year award, granted by the Government of Ontario, is awarded annually by a municipality to recognize an outstanding senior who, after age 65, enriches the social, cultural or civic life of the community.
“I am pleased to honour Mr. Tersigni as our 2024 Senior of the Year and congratulate him on this accomplishment” said Mayor Annette Groves. “He is an inspiration for all of us and our community has benefitted from his service.”
About the 2024 Senior of the Year
Joe’s activism began in 1989 but it wasn’t until he moved to Caledon in 2014 that our community benefitted from his generosity and dedication to community and culture.
Joe has been involved with the Bolton Italian Cultural Centre and the Humber River Foundation where he organizes fundraisers and community events. Joe was also instrumental in securing Caledon’s Sister City agreement with Isola del Liri by hosting delegations and joining Mayor and Council on visits to the Italian town.
Joe Tersigni's contributions exemplify the vital role seniors play in enhancing and nurturing the fabric of our community.
