Caledon Volunteer Firefighter recruitment now open

CALEDON, ON (June 3, 2024) – Caledon Fire and Emergency Services is gearing up for their annual recruitment drive to hire volunteer firefighters. 

Eligibility 

To be eligible, applicants must: 

  • be at least 18 years of age; 

  • have a valid G driver’s licence with no more than three demerit points; 

  • live within 8 km of a Caledon Fire Station; 

  • and have a clean vulnerable sector check. 

They must also register for and attend one of three mandatory information sessions: 

  1. Thursday, June 13, 2024 at 10 a.m. at Caledon East Community Complex - 6215 Old Church Road
  2. Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at 7 p.m. at Albion Bolton Community Centre - 150 Queen Street South
  3. Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at 7 p.m. at Caledon East Community Complex - 6215 Old Church Road

Position Overview 

As a volunteer firefighter, you are expected to respond to both emergency and non-emergency situations, including: 

  • Fires (including structure, vehicle and wild land fires) 

  • Medical emergencies 

  • Vehicle, machinery, and other rescue calls 

  • Alarm activations and investigations 

  • Public calls that require assistance 

Volunteer firefighters are compensated for their time responding to a call.

The application period opens Friday, June 14. Those eligible to apply have until Sunday, July 14 to submit their applications.
