Council reviews employment strategy
Council reviewed a presentation about the Town’s employment strategy, including a detailed analysis of economic trends in various employment sectors (office, industrial, retail, commercial, etc.).
The presentation also reviewed growth forecasts for designated employment areas in the Town including:
- Bolton;
- Mayfield West;
- Tullamore;
- Sandhill;
- Victoria/Brampton Airport; and
- the Mayfield and Mississauga Roads area.
Town’s climate change plan aims for net zero by 2050
Council received an overview of a climate change discussion paper that highlights opportunities to embed climate change goals into its Official Plan.
The presentation highlighted various options to achieve the Town’s greenhouse gas emissions targets of 36 per cent below 2016 levels (by 2030) and net zero by 2050, as well as prepare for more extreme weather events in the following areas:
- the built form (such as the design of our communities and energy systems);
- transportation systems;
- natural environment and agriculture;
- and resilient communities.
