Old Bolton Firehall Renovation

Council adopted a recommendation to invest $7,479,800 to repurpose the Old Bolton Fire Hall as a community space.

Options for the space include leasing out to local vendors, creating an innovation hub, and building a maker space and drop-in space for youth and seniors.

The decision was based on a recommendation in the Bolton Revitalization Plan and the work of the Downtown Bolton Revitalization Task Force.

The work will take place over the course of 2021 and 2022. One of the first items of business will be to investigate lease opportunities to provide temporary programs and services. More information

Amendments to the COVID-19 mandatory face covering By-law

Despite increased vaccine coverage, the Region of Peel continues to see high rates of community transmission of COVID-19 as well as the emergence of fast-spreading variants of concern. Based on recommendations from Peel’s Medical Officer of Health, the Town is extending and updating its face-covering by-law until September 30, 2021. More information

Melville White Church, Old Caledon Township Hall and The Kin Centre

Council renewed lease agreements with local community groups for the following facilities:

  • Belfountain Heritage Society - Melville White Church
  • Caledon Townhall Players - Old Caledon Township Hall
  • Kinsmen Club of Bolton – The Kin Centre

The new agreements are based on a nominal fee and in turn the groups will continue looking after regular operations and maintenance of the buildings. More information

Province-wide Vision Zero Strategy

Council adopted a motion to support the province-wide Vision Zero strategy.

Vision Zero is an approach to transportation engineering that fundamentally reimagines the way road safety is advanced with the ultimate objective of eliminating fatalities and injuries on roadways. It is part of a national effort to encourage all road safety stakeholders to make Canada’s roads the safest in the world. More information

Anti-Hate Crimes

Council passed a motion to endorse the federal Private Member's Bill C-313 Banning Symbols of Hate Act.
