Council to Appoint New Chair of Planning and Development Committee

May 10, 2024 (Caledon, ON) – Caledon Council will be appointing a new Chair of the Planning and Development Committee at its meeting on May 14, 2024 following the recent resignation of Ward 4 Councillor Nick De Boer from the position of Chair.

The Planning and Development Committee gives the public a forum to express their views on development applications and planning-related policies. The committee makes recommendations to Council on planning-related policies and by-laws, growth management, infrastructure matters and development applications.

“Councillor De Boer has successfully chaired the committee of council since its inception in 2016,” said Mayor Annette Groves. “He has been instrumental in enabling residents and stakeholders to bring their voices to important decisions that have shaped our community over the eight-and-a-half years.”

Mayor Groves has delegated her assigned power under the Municipal Act to appoint the Chair back to Council, and in accordance with the procedure by-law, Council will vote on a new Chair at the May 14 meeting. Following standard procedures, Regional Councillor Mario Russo, who is currently Vice-Chair of the committee, will preside over the meeting until the new Chair is selected.
