Be Ready for Anything: Emergency Preparedness Week 2022
April 26, 2022 – The focus of Emergency Preparedness Week (May 1-7, 2022) is to encourage Canadians to be prepared to cope on their own for at least the first 72 hours of an emergency while rescue workers help those in urgent need.
“With a little preparation, we can be ready for anything,” said Fire Chief Dave Forfar. “By taking these three simple steps, you can become better prepared to face a range of emergencies.”
Step 1 - Make a Plan | Plan a Communication and Evacuation Plan
In an emergency, your family may not be together, or you may be asked to evacuate your home. Thinking about what you would do in different situations and preparing a plan with every member of your family is the first step to being prepared.
Step 2 – Make a Kit | Build an Emergency Survival Kit
Your emergency survival kit should have everything you and your family would need to be safe and take care of yourselves for at least three days immediately following an emergency.
Step 3 – Be Informed | Ways you can be informed
