Former Railway Corridor Closed to Public

July 15th the Region of Peel, City of Brampton, Town of Caledon and City of Mississauga announced the acquisition of approximately 51km of the former Orangeville Brampton Railway corridor which run from the Caledon-Orangeville boundary to just north of Streetsville. The rail corridor will eventually be converted to a continuous trail linking the municipalities and unifying the Trans Canada Trail system.

There are no timelines yet for the completion of this project. The former Orangeville Brampton Railway corridor is closed to the public and deemed to be in a state of repair by the Town of Caledon until further notice. Signage will also be added to some areas to remind the public of the closure.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to use the many other trail options available in the Town.

“The lands are not open to the public for use as a trail as we work on design and construction. We thank people for their patience understanding this is a popular feature, but this closure is necessary for public safety,” said Brian Baird, Director of Operations. “We look forward to completing the design and work required to see the eventual opening of this trail and thank the public in advance for their cooperation during this necessary closure.”
