Future Caledon: Help Shape Our New Official Plan
The Town of Caledon is launching its Official Plan review to serve as a roadmap for the next 20 plus years. The review will build on existing policies to guide our future in five key areas:
- Natural Resources and Agriculture;
- Transportation, Technology and Infrastructure;
- Growth, Settlement, Housing and Employment;
- Tourism, Heritage, Healthy Communities and Culture, and;
- Climate change.
“I feel strongly that Caledon should plan for Caledon” said Mayor Allan Thompson. “That’s why Future Caledon, our Official Plan launch, and public consultations are so important. It’s your opportunity to have your say on what Caledon should look like in the future.”
Why is a new Official Plan needed?
The Planning Act requires that Official Plans be reviewed every five to 10 years. The Town’s Plan requires updating to modernize it and create a clear vision of what Caledon will look like in the future. Provincial and regional guidelines have also identified Caledon as a place for growth: the new Official Plan will help guide this growth, balancing the needs of our rural and urban communities.
