New full-time firefighter recruits join Caledon Fire and Emergency Services team
September 22, 2023 (CALEDON, ON) – The Town of Caledon Fire and Emergency Services department welcomed nine new full-time firefighters to the team at a graduation ceremony held today at Station 302 in Bolton.
“It’s always a great day when we can add to our fantastic Caledon Fire and Emergency Services team,” said Deputy Chief Samantha Hoffmann. “We are extremely proud to welcome these new recruits to our team and look forward to serving our community alongside them.”
In line with Public Education being the first line of defense, this is Caledon’s first recruit class to have all received NFPA 1035, Public Educator certification. Moving forward, all Caledon firefighters will be certified to this standard as part of their training.
The nine new recruits have already been assigned to three of Caledon’s nine fire stations and will begin work immediately – on call and ready to respond to an emergency situation.
“We are pleased to welcome these new recruits to the Town of Caledon and Caledon Fire team,” said Mayor Annette Groves. “Having full-time firefighters trained to not only protect our community, but to also teach them how to educate our residents on how to be fire safe and prepared in the event of an emergency, is an added benefit that shows the quality-of-service Caledon Fire and Emergency Services provide.”
