Notice of Study Commencement: Southfields Village Parking Study

The Study

The Town of Caledon has initiated a Parking Strategy Study for the Southfields Village Community (please see map below). Southfields Village is a relatively new residential community with a high auto dependency and increasing demand for additional parking opportunities on top of dedicated off-street parking spaces for residential units. This high demand for residential parking has resulted in an increase in on-street parking, vehicles being parked on boulevards  overhanging onto sidewalks or  roadways, widening driveways, paving front yards, and removing landscaping to be used as additional parking spaces, which negatively affects the community.

The Town would like to develop a parking strategy to address the additional parking demand while minimizing negative impacts on the neighbourhood. The study will assess the parking demand in the Southfields Village Community and identify actions, programs, and strategies to address increased residential parking demand in the community.

Public Input

Public and stakeholder consultation will be vital in developing the Parking Strategy. The Town will be hosting stakeholder consultation and public engagement activities including two (2) public information open houses. Your input is important to us. The study team wants to hear your comments, ideas and questions on the current state and the future parking strategy.

How to Participate

1. A study webpage at https://haveyoursaycaledon.ca/southfieldsvillageparkingstudy. Where we will provide key study information e.g. consultation summaries and reports as well as educational information.
2. An online survey will be hosted on the webpage where you will be able to provide comments and feedback for consideration by study team.
3. Public information open houses to discuss the study with residents and stakeholders. Details, including the date, time, and how to participate in the open houses will be communicated in subsequent notices, and posted on the study webpage.
