Ontario PC’s make election commitment to bring GO Train to Caledon
CALEDON, ON (February 6, 2025) – Caledon’s push to get GO Train service is one step closer to reality with Thursday’s announcement that the Ontario PC’s will support the construction of GO 2.0, including the Bolton Line, if re-elected.
“The prioritization of the Bolton Line in GO 2.0 is a tremendous win for the residents of Caledon,” said Mayor Annette Groves. “The Bolton Line will transform the lives of residents who commute south, attract new businesses and top talent to our town, and allow us to meet our growth goals through innovative, integrated, people-oriented development.”
Over the last year, Caledon Council has taken bold, proactive steps to address the housing crisis, including the rezoning of 12 parcels of land to unlock 35,000 homes and accelerating advocacy for GO train service to support higher-density development and walkable communities.
“This commitment is an illustration of Council’s continued support to grow Caledon the right way, and a staff-led, modern approach to integrated land-use and transportation planning under the leadership of our CAO, Nathan Hyde,” continued Groves. “Nowhere is this more evident than in the Bolton South Secondary Plan, which will give Caledon the density to support GO.”
Transit planning was one of the key drivers behind the rezoning by-laws passed by Town Council in June 2025. One of the parcels rezoned will enable a high-rise development planned for Highway 50 at Industrial Road in south Bolton that will bring more than 3,500 families to within walking distance of one of the Caledon’s two GO stations on the Bolton Line.
