Proposed 2024 Budget presented at General Committee

Town of Caledon staff presented the proposed 2024 Budget at General Committee this week. The Town’s proposed property tax increase is 3.50 per cent on the 2024 property tax bill.

Work in the proposed budget is directly linked to the Town’s 2023-2035 Strategic Plan. The plan, which has a 12 year-outlook, sets out specific actions that Caledon will strive to deliver by 2026 under four priorities.

Creating the budget is a collaborative effort that combines the recommendations of Town departments and the insights of Council regarding the needs, pressures and desires of the community.  Council ultimately makes the decision on spending and the resulting impact on the tax rate.

The proposed budget process includes two General Committee-Budget meetings and a Council meeting for final approval of the budget, all of which are open to the public. There is also an online forum where residents can ask questions and receive answers from Senior staff regarding the proposed 2024 budget. The first General Committee meeting regarding the budget occurred on January 17, 2024, and the next two are being considered for rescheduling to earlier dates in FebruaryCheck Caledon.ca/agendas for updates.
