Request for Expressions of Interest - Town Hall Cafeteria Shared Space

September 16, 2024 (CALEDON, ON) – The Town of Caledon is offering to share its cafeteria space at Town Hall (6311 Old Church Road, Caledon East) with qualified and interested community groups for human and/or social service programs. An expression of interest is now available on the Town Website until Monday, October 14: Request for Expressions of Interest – Town Hall Cafeteria Shared Space.

Following the expressions of interest, there will be an evaluation, ranking and selection of respondents. Town staff will interview the best suited respondent(s) and attempt to reach a mutual agreement.

Scope of work
Through this model, the cafeteria and dining area at Town Hall will become a shared space for community groups, while continuing to provide food service and an informal meeting place for Town Staff.

The cafeteria space is proposed to be shared with community groups who would use it to provide their existing social/human service programs, including:

  • Opportunities for skill development using the cafeteria food service
  • Meeting space with or without food provisions
  • Event space for community groups including team building events that use the food service facilities

The Town is open to other innovative approaches for community groups to use the space beyond those mentioned above.

About the cafeteria space
The cafeteria facility includes:

  1. A dining area that:
    • Has a seating area with 35 seats and the option for additional seating
    • Is used as an informal meetings space by staff
    • Features microwaves for staff to reheat meals brought from home as well as complementary coffee and tea, a hot water dispenser, kettle, hand sink and a fridge for staff to store their lunches in

  2. Picnic tables are available for staff to use in two outdoor areas with landscaped grounds

  3. A service area with self-serve fridges to access pre-packaged sandwiches, snacks and drinks, panini press and a cash register

Scheduling for the use of the space would be coordinated through the Town’s registration for participation in programs. Timing for the use of the space would be during the cafeteria’s operating hours (8:15am-2:45pm, Monday to Friday) and during weekday events (5-8pm) when Council or Committees are meeting.
