The Town of Caledon adopts three percent tax increase for the 2025 budget
The budget outlines a plan to fund key capital projects and essential services, featuring a 1% infrastructure levy and 2% property tax, for a total tax increase of 3%.
CALEDON, ON (December 18, 2024) – The Town of Caledon has approved amendments to its 2025 Budget, which will help the Town meet its population target of 300,000 residents by 2051, as well as support the immediate needs of its residents.
The budget focuses on the Town’s commitment to maintaining and improving key services such as road operations, expanding community services and strengthening fire and emergency services. It also introduces an incremental 1% infrastructure levy to maintain the Town’s assets in good condition and help address funding gaps.
“This budget reflects the priorities of our residents, balances growth with fiscal responsibility, and invests in the infrastructure and services that matter most to our community,” says Mayor Annette Groves. “I am proud of the collaborative efforts of Town staff and Council in achieving a budget that ensures we continue to remain a vibrant, forward-thinking and an inclusive place to live, work and do business in.”

The $205 million (M) budget is comprised of a $147M operating budget and a $58M capital budget. The 3% tax increase includes:

2% Property Tax Increase: This increase will support the Town’s operating costs and ensure the continued provision of essential services to residents and businesses.

1% Annual Infrastructure Levy: Introducing dedicated funding for critical infrastructure projects to maintain and enhance the Town’s assets and support future growth each year.
Operating Budget ($147M) Highlights:

Funding for community safety, including municipal law enforcement, fire and emergency services

Continued support for parks, recreation and culture programming

Investment in road operations and environmental sustainability initiatives
Capital Budget ($58M) Highlights:

Road and transportation network improvements to enhance safety and mobility

Investments in vehicles and resources for fire services to maintain emergency response

Upgrades to equipment at recreation centres, like the Caledon Centre for Recreation & Wellness
