Town of Caledon announces new Commissioner of Finance & Chief Financial Officer

The Town of Caledon is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Rob Cummings, CPA, CMA, as the new Commissioner of Finance and Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Mr. Cummings brings over 25 years of extensive experience in financial leadership, strategic planning and fiscal management.

The restructuring of the Town of Caledon in September streamlined 11 departments to six, each led by a Commissioner or Chief. This new structure was imposed to prepare the Town to become a leading single-tier municipality that delivers efficient, innovative services. With the Peel Region being dissolved in January 2025, Caledon will have to deliver some services that are currently provided regionally. The restructuring is a proactive step to prepare for next steps in the process.

Mr. Cummings previously served as the Superintendent of Business Services & Treasurer at the Bluewater District School Board. His wealth of experience includes key roles in public-sector organizations, such as York Region and the Town of Blue Mountains, where he served as Director of Finance & Treasurer.

With degrees in Bachelor of Commerce (B.Comm) and Bachelor of Arts – Economics (B.A) from York University, and holding a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation from CPA Ontario, Mr. Cummings is well-equipped to lead the financial team at the Town of Caledon.

Mr. Cummings is set to commence his role as Commissioner of Finance & CFO on December 4. His arrival marks a significant step in the Town's commitment to effective financial management and strategic planning for the community's future.
