Town of Caledon recruiting for Illegal Land Use Task Force
June 27, 2024 (CALEDON, ON) – The Town of Caledon is currently seeking dedicated citizens interested in using their knowledge and experience to serve the community as members of the Illegal Land Use Task Force (ILUTF).
Please click here to complete the application form. Applications for the ILUTF are being accepted until Sunday, July 21 at 11:59 p.m. The ILUTF will begin meeting this fall and provide its first update to Council in the first quarter of 2025.
“We’ve heard loud and clear that this is an important issue in our community,” commented Catherine McLean, Commissioner, Community and Human Services. “We look forward to building a task force that will work collaboratively with our community partners to improve the quality of life in Caledon.”
“In the last few years, we’ve investigated hundreds of properties across Caledon and this Task Force is the next step in addressing illegal land use,” said Jack Hunjan, Director, Municipal Law Enforcement. “The Task Force will play an important role in furthering enforcement by advancing community education, interagency collaboration and advocacy with higher levels of government.”

Mandate
The Town of Caledon’s Illegal Land Use Task Force has been established to proactively identify and address illegal land uses within the Town of Caledon.
Through collaborative efforts with municipal staff, subject matter experts and community stakeholders, the ILUTF aims to prioritize community well-being, enhance enforcement strategies and advocate for policy changes to protect public health safety and environmental well-being.
Scope of Activities
The ILUTF supports the creation of communities where land use adheres to legal standards and regulations, fostering economic prosperity, integrity and fairness. Through its work, the ILUTF supports community vitality and livability and environmental leadership.
