Town of Caledon to create Community Recognition Task Force
July 26, 2024 (CALEDON, ON) – On July 23rd Council approved a newly rebranded Caledon Civic Awards Program that will launch in 2025 consisting of the Volunteer Service Awards and Citizen Achievement Awards as well as re-introducing Caledon’s Walk of Fame.
The Town of Caledon will be looking to recruit residents to be part of the new Community Recognition Task Force from August 16 through September 27, 2024. The task force will consist of five community volunteers (four members and one chair) with experience supporting various initiatives within Caledon and will be responsible for recommending award winners to Council for the Caledon Civic Awards Program.
“We are excited to get to work with the new Community Recognition Task Force and continue to honour our residents with the Caledon Civic Awards Program and the Caledon Walk of Fame,” said Catherine McLean, Commissioner of Community and Human Services. “Celebrating our awards program winners at Caledon Day will allow thousands of fellow residents to participate and show their appreciation as we gather to celebrate our community of communities.”
The Community Recognition Task Force will also review nominations and make recommendations to Council for Caledon’s Walk of Fame, with one recipient being chosen in the third year of each term of Council.
“Awarding a Walk of Fame recipient once during each term of Council elevates the importance of this honour and the impact the recipients have made earning their spot along the Walk with our previous winners,” added McLean.
"Establishing this task force guarantees community involvement in recognizing award winners and honouring their significant contributions. This initiative aligns with our Strategic Plan's Community Vitality and Livability priority, reinforcing our commitment to a healthy, engaged, and caring community, and strengthening the bonds that unite us," said Nathan Hyde, CAO.
