Caledon Council Community Golf Tournament contributes $91,300 to Bolton Camp

Cheque presentation (December 6, 2017)

On September 6, 2017 hundreds of golfers descended on Osprey Valley Golf Course for the 14th  edition of the Caledon Council Community Golf Tournament. Under the leadership of Caledon Council – and with the support of a full slate of sponsors – the 2017 Tournament raised well over $100,000, passing a milestone of one million dollars given back to the community over the life of the Tournament.

As a result of this generous support, on December 6, 2017 Caledon Council presented a cheque for $91,300 to TRCA’s Reimagining of Bolton Camp. This project is the primary beneficiary of the CCCGT proceeds for 2017.  (Other “secondary” recipients – to be named later – will be awarded the remaining proceeds from the 2017 Tournament.)

The Council contribution will help to fulfill one of the most vital elements of Bolton Camp – the renovation of “The Hub,” a 4,000 square foot building built in 1975 that can accommodate more than 300 users.  It will become a central gathering space for the community and will ensure that TRCA can continue to meet the needs of our rapidly growing community.

“Thank you to our sponsors, our golfers and our host Osprey Valley Golf Club,” said Mayor Allan Thompson. “Once again their generous support has contributed to another major investment in our community!”

“On behalf of my Council colleagues I’m so proud of this investment in the Reimagining of Bolton Camp,” said Councillor Jennifer Innis, who served as this year’s Chair of the Tournament. “The Hub is a key component of the project and will help transform the site into a community cultural hub to meet the growing needs of our community and help bring our region together.”

Applications for funding from the proceeds of the Tournament are now open.  Community and not-for-profit groups are invited to apply for either “secondary” funding from the 2017 proceeds or to be the “primary” recipient of proceeds from the 2018 Tournament.  The deadline for applications is January 31, 2018.  Applications will be considered by Caledon Council in Spring 2018.
