Caledon residents share top four budget priorities for 2025
CALEDON, ON (November 1, 2024) – The Town’s recent public survey regarding Caledon’s 2025 Budget shows community safety and maintaining essential infrastructure are foremost in the minds of residents.
The top priorities identified by the public going into next year’s budget cycle include:
-
Fire and Emergency Services: Residents expressed strong support for continued investment in fire and emergency response services to support the safety and well-being of the community.
-
Roads Operations: Many highlighted the need for road maintenance, improvement projects and snow removal to keep our streets safe and efficient.
-
Municipal Law Enforcement: Results this year suggest a growing interest in increased by-law enforcement, particularly in areas related to property standards and the safe flow of traffic.
-
Parks, Recreation and Community Services: The public emphasized the importance of maintaining and expanding recreational facilities, parks and community programs that support a vibrant and active lifestyle.
“On behalf of Council, I want to personally thank everyone who participated in this survey. Your input is invaluable in ensuring that the decisions we make as a Council put the needs and desires of the people of Caledon first,” commented Mayor Annette Groves. “This feedback is critical as we head into budget discussions and make decisions to invest in our community.”
The insights provided through the survey will guide Town of Caledon staff and Council as they continue to develop the 2025 budget in the coming weeks. On October 22, Council approved scheduling the Proposed 2025 Budget Meeting for Monday, November 25. The first budget meeting in November serves as a primer to identify the needs and pressures the Town faces in the coming fiscal year.
“The feedback we received gives us clear direction on where residents want to see their tax dollars invested, and it helps us prioritize spending while maintaining fiscal responsibility,” said Robert Cummings, Commissioner of Finance and Chief Financial Officer. “Thank you again for your input and for helping build Caledon’s future.”
