This is to inform you that the Town of Caledon has received Zoning By-law and Official Plan Amendment Applications. Your input and insight will inform and shape plans that meet the needs of our community.
Applicant and Location
Applicant: Lafarge Canada, Inc.
Location: 17923 Shaws Creek Road, Ward 1
Proposed Changes
The purpose of these applications is to permit an extension of the existing Lafarge Pit 3, which is located to the east of subject property.
The purpose of the Official Plan Amendment application is to redesignate the lands from General Agricultural Area to Extractive Industrial A Area to permit an above-water sand and gravel aggregate extraction operation, and Environmental Policy Area to designate the on-site wetland and buffer area for environmental protection.
The purpose of the Zoning By-law Amendment application is to rezone the lands from Agricultural (A1) to a site-specific Extractive Industrial zoning to permit the sand and gravel aggregate extraction operation, and a site-specific Environmental Policy Area 1 to allow for environmental management, forest management, and an acoustic/visual berm.

Appeal Procedure |
Official Plan Amendment Appeal Information: If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting, or make written submissions to the Clerk of the Town of Caledon before the proposed Official Plan Amendment is adopted, the person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the Ontario Land Tribunal unless, in the opinion of the Tribunal, there are reasonable grounds to add the person or public body as a party. Zoning By-law Amendment Appeal Information: The applicant or specified persons as defined by the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, c.P.13, as amended, public bodies as defined by the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, c.P.13, as amended and registered owners of land to which the by-law would apply who made oral or written submissions to Council prior to the passing of the by-law may appeal a decision of the municipality or planning board to the Ontario Land Tribunal. No person or public body shall be added as a party to the hearing of the appeal unless, before the by-law was passed, they made oral submissions at a public meeting or written submissions to the council or, in the opinion of the Ontario Land Tribunal, there are reasonable grounds to add the person, public body or registered owner of land to which the by-law would apply as a party. |
