Town of Caledon announces winner of its Climate Change School Video Contest
A grade 2 class from Southfields Village Public School is the winner of the Town of Caledon Climate Change Video Contest.
In recognition of Earth Day (April 22, 2017), the Town of Caledon invited all local schools (K1 to Grade 12) to participate in its Climate Change School Video Contest. Schools were asked to create a video showcasing their ideas about how the community can reduce the production of greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) in Caledon.
“The Town has a long history of taking action on climate change,” said Mayor Allan Thompson. “When you see the creativity and passion of the kids in these videos, you can’t help but share their enthusiasm. Their energy definitely influences our thinking as we update our official Climate Change Action Plan.”
Under the direction of Ms. Denreyer, the grade 2 class produced a video called “This Earth,” which, along with other submissions, is currently viewable at caledon.ca/climatechange.
Starting this weekend, the winning video will be featured at Landmark Cinemas in Bolton during the month of May. The class will also present their video to Town Council and they will receive a free pizza lunch.
