Council Highlights - November 26, 2024

CALEDON, ON (November 29, 2024) - The following are highlights from the Council Meeting on Tuesday, November 26, 2024

Caledon 2025 Budget Meeting Schedule 
Council has approved the 2025 Budget Meeting schedule and staff will present an overview of next year’s budget in the coming weeks: 

  • Budget Presentation – Monday, December 2 

  • Budget Proposed Amendments – Tuesday, December 10 

  • Budget Amendments Approval – Tuesday, December 17 

A copy of the 2025 Budget will be available at caledon.ca/budget for the presentation on Monday, December 2 and updates will be provided throughout the process. 

Town receives two international awards for effective communication 
Mayor and Council recognized Town of Caledon staff for receiving two Gold MarCom Awards from the Association of Marketing and Communications Professionals (AMCP) for excellence in public marketing and communication. Caledon won for its 2024 Caledon Day and Volunteer Firefighter Recruitment campaigns. The MarCom Awards is one of the largest and most respected creative contests in the world. This year, it received over 6,500 entries in over 300 categories from 45 countries. 

Caledon completes Growth Management & Phasing Plan 
At the Planning and Development Committee Meeting, Town staff and its multi-disciplinary consulting team presented the final Growth Management and Phasing Plan (GMPP). Launched in 2021, the GMPP is a forward-thinking initiative designed to provide clear guidance on where, when and how Caledon should grow through the 2051 New Urban Area. Town staff have been directed to bring forward an amendment to the Future Caledon, Official Plan in 2025 to implement the GMPP. 

Town Defends Opposition of Tim Horton’s Drive-through in Caledon at OLT 
This week the Town of Caledon is at the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) to defend the Town’s opposition of a development application for a Tim Horton’s drive-through and other commercial buildings at 16054, 16060 and 16068 Airport Road in downtown Caledon East. The development applicant appealed the Town’s decision to oppose the original application because of cultural heritage interests. The OLT will hear the appeal until December 6, 2024.
