Elections

You can vote in the 2026 Municipal Election if you are:

• A Canadian citizen
• At least 18 years old
• A resident in the Town of Caledon, or
• A non-resident, and you or your spouse owns or rents property in Caledon.
  
  

You are not eligible to vote in the 2026 Municipal Election if you:

• Are serving a sentence of imprisonment in a penal or correctional institution
• Are a corporation
• Are acting as executor, trustee, or in any other representative capacity (except as a voting proxy), or
• Were convicted of the corrupt practice described in the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, less than five years ago
  
  

You can only vote once, regardless of how many properties you own or rent in the Town of Caledon.

The Voters' List is a list of individuals who are eligible to vote in provincial and municipal elections in Ontario.

To check if you are on the list, or to update or add your name to the list, visit the Elections Ontario website at www.registertovoteon.ca​.

To confirm or change your school board support, visit the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) website at www.mpac.ca/makingchangesupdates/schoolsupportdesignation​.

Voters in the Town of Caledon can vote anywhere in the Town.

Information on voting locations and accessibility considerations will be made available here in the coming months. 

You must bring one of the following acceptable forms of identification (ID) with you to the voting location:

• Ontario driver's licence
• Ontario photo card
• Cancelled personalized cheque
• Insurance policy or statement
• Any other document included on the voter identification list

 Voting for School Board Trustee

English Public Voters must:

• be a supporter of the English-language public district school board; or
• not be a supporter of any board, nor have they qualified themselves as an elector for a separate or French-language school board in the election.
  
  

English Separate Voters must:

• be a Roman Catholic who must:

• qualify as an elector for the English-language separate district school board; or

• be a supporter (or be the spouse of a supporter) of the English-language separate district school board.
  
  

French Public Voters must:

• be a French-language rights holder (see ss. 23(1) and (2) of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms for criteria) who must:

• qualify as an elector for the French-language public district school board; or

• be a supporter (or the spouse of a supporter) of the French-language public district school board.
  
  

French Separate Voters must:

• be a Roman Catholic and
• a French-language rights holder (see the Charter for criteria ) who must:

• qualify as an elector for the French-language separate district school board; or

• be a supporter (or the spouse of a supporter) of the French-language separate district school board.
