Chinguacousy Road Improvements Class Environmental Assessment
Public Information Centre No.2
Consultation with stakeholders is a key component of the study. As part of this study two Public Information Centres (PICs) are planned. The first PIC was held virtually/online on Tuesday, July 5 2022. The purpose of the PIC was to provide information regarding the existing conditions in the study area and the identification, evaluation and selection of alternative solutions. If you were not able to attend the event, the PIC materials are available on this webpage under "Documents and Updates."
The PIC No.2 was held using a virtual format from November 11 to November 30, 2022. The purpose of this PIC was to present the preliminary preferred alternative designs and to gather public input. Following the PIC No.2, the preferred design is being reviewed and confirmed taking into consideration any comments. If you were unable to participate in the PIC 2, you can review the materials using the following links. Please contact any member of the project team, mentioned at the end this page, to provide your input or if you have any questions.

About the Project
The Town of Caledon has initiated a Schedule ‘C’ Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) to review alternative solutions for improvements to Chinguacousy Road from Mayfield Road to Old School Road.
Through the 2051 panning horizon, Caledon is forecasted to grow from a population of approximately 80,000 residents to approximately 300,000. The Caledon Transportation Master Plan (TMP) has identified the corridor of Chinguacousy Road from Mayfield Road to Old School Road as an area needing road improvements to service the current growth in the area and the future planned Peel Region’s urban boundary expansion.
The project is in the environmental assessment and preliminary design phase. Our consultant for this phase is Ainley Group. Following this phase, the detailed design will be undertaken and finalized for construction.
Purpose of the Study |
The purpose of the study is to consider the improvement needs that will provide opportunity to increase corridor capacity corresponding with the forecasted growth and traffic demands as identified in the Town’s Transportation Master Plan. Creating multimodal transportation options will support active transportation and the creation of complete communities. The study will consider:

Public Input |
Public Input is key to the success of this project, so we want to hear from you. The town will be holding two Public Information Centres (PIC) for the project. The notices for the PICs will be posted here on the website as well as mailed to the area residents through regular mail. A copy of all presentations and engagement materials from PICs will be available on this website after the PIC event.
The Public Information Centre (No.1) was held virtually/online on Tuesday, July 5 2022. The purpose of the PIC was to provide information regarding the existing conditions in the study area and the identification, evaluation and selection of alternative solutions. The PIC was an opportunity for the members of the public to ask questions and discuss the project with the project Team. If you were not able to attend the event, the PIC materials are available on this website under "Documents and Updates."
If any time you would like to provide any feedback or would like to be added to the project contact list, please do not hesitate to contact either of the project contacts at the bottom of the page. |
Environmental Study Report |
Upon completion of the study, Environmental Study Report (ESR) documenting the planning process undertaken, details of the study recommendations as well as potential impacts and mitigation measures will be posted here for review. |
Project Timeline |
Present Phase 1 and 2 of the Environmental Assessment including the problem/opportunity statement, existing conditions, technical study finding and alternative solutions.
