Preservation of Rural Community Character and Infill Policy Review

The Town of Caledon completed the Preservation of Rural Community Character and Infill Policy Review. The purpose of this study was to establish a policy framework that ensures that any new development positively contributes to the established character, sense of place and culture heritage assets of the Town's villages and hamlets.

We wanted the policy to encourage compatible development that protects the unique character of each community now and in the future. This study built on work of the:

This study had four phases:

  • Phase 1: Background Review and Data Collection
  • Phase 2: Analysis, Options and Preferred Residential Infill Guidelines
  • Phase 3: Draft Policy Formation
  • Phase 4: Policy Refinement and Final Adoption
